Ghanaian sensation Sam Amo-Ameyaw delivered a stunning curler as Southampton edged out Bordeaux in an exhilarating pre-season match. The teenage star gave the Saints a second-half lead, winning the ball in midfield before weaving his way forward and scoring to make it 2-1.
Tyler Dibling had initially put the Premier League returnees ahead, but Alpha Diallo quickly equalized, leaving the game level at halftime.
Amo-Ameyaw’s brilliant solo effort restored Southampton’s lead, and former Bordeaux youth player Sekou Mara further extended their advantage. Despite a late goal from Joss Marques da Silva for Bordeaux, it wasn’t enough to deny Southampton the victory.
Black Stars winger Kamaldeen Sulemana also featured in the friendly, as he works his way back into the Saints’ lineup.
Southampton will kick off their Premier League season with a trip to Newcastle United.
