Ghana’s Alexander Djiku scored in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday afternoon against AS Monaco to send his team RS Strasbourg Alsace to Champions League spot on the league table.

The 27-year-old played full throttle for his team as they beat Monaco 1-0 at the Stade de la Meinau to move to 3rd spot on the league table after 28 round of matches.

Following a corner kick in the 23rd minute, France attacker, Kevin Gameiro provided the Ghanaian an assist with his head as Djiku’s improvised overhead kick found the center of the goal to make it 1-0.

The second half was played with high intensity with the visitors looking for the equalizer but Djiku and his colleagues at the back remained firm to prevent the Red and Whites from getting back into the the game.

RC Strasbourg Alsace are third temporarily which is a UEFA Champions League playoffs spot for the main time but could be overtaken by Kamaldeen Sulemana’s Stade de Rennes if they manage even a draw at Olympic Lyon later.

The 27-year-old Ghana center-back has now opened his goal account in the 2021-22 French Ligue 1 season for Strasbourg in 22 matches.

Djiku, who impressed throughout the game was the highly rated player on the field with a rating of 8.3.
