Gideon Mensah: Former WAFA star shows he’s ‘capable’ of playing high-profile matches

Former West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC graduate, Gideon Mensah gives Ghana Football fans a salivating performance in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup playoff against Nigeria.

The FC Girondins Bordeaux player was very solid at the left-back position for the Black Stars and hardly gave away possession with commanding show.

He made Ghanaians to forget about regular left-back, Baba Abdul Rahman’s absence as he pocketed Moses Simon throughout the match.

He surged forward with purpose and delivered some wicked and pinpoint crosses into the box of the opposition which needed only someone to connect to give Ghana a goal.

He played the entire duration of the match and was really solid on the ball both in defense and in attack to create good openings for Jordan Ayew and his striking partners.

Gideon had his best of games in a very long time in Ghana colours and proved to be a reliable player for Ghana going forward.

He’s expected to start for Black Stars in Tuesday’s clash in Abuja against a determined Nigeria team.
