Spanish La Liga side Girona are reportedly in talks to secure the services of highly-rated Ghanaian left-back David Oduro, as the club looks to strengthen its defensive options ahead of the new season.
The 19-year-old defender, who is currently on the books of FC Barcelona, has caught the attention of Girona following an injury to their regular left-back, Miguel Gutiérrez. With limited options available, Girona see Oduro as an ideal short-term solution due to his pace, energy, and defensive awareness.
According to multiple sources, discussions between the two clubs are ongoing. However, Barcelona are said to prefer a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer, as they still believe in Oduro’s long-term potential. The young talent is under contract with the Catalan giants until 2027.
A move to Girona could provide Oduro with valuable first-team experience in La Liga, allowing him to develop further while helping Girona cope with their current injury concerns. If the deal goes through, it would also be another step forward for Oduro, who continues to rise through the ranks of European football.
Both clubs are expected to reach a decision soon, with Girona keen to finalize their squad before the start of the season.
