Bechem United preserved their flawless home record in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League with a dramatic 2-1 victory over FC Samartex 1996, courtesy of Dennis Modzaka’s stoppage-time winner at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday.
The Hunters looked destined to settle for a point before substitute Modzaka emerged as the hero, striking deep into added time to hand Bechem a memorable victory and maintain their perfect record on home soil.
The hosts made an energetic start and controlled much of the first half, eventually breaking the deadlock in the 39th minute. Veteran playmaker Augustine Okrah finished off a well-worked move after being brilliantly picked out by Kelvin Appiah, calmly slotting the ball beyond the goalkeeper to give Bechem a deserved lead.
Samartex responded strongly after the interval and levelled the scores in the 57th minute through Gabriel Osei. The equaliser injected fresh belief into the Timber Giants, who began to enjoy more possession as they searched for a winner.
The defending champions looked capable of leaving Bechem with at least a point, but the hosts refused to give up and continued to push forward in the closing stages.
Their persistence was rewarded in the fifth minute of stoppage time when substitute Dennis Modzaka latched onto a loose ball and clinically fired home to spark wild celebrations among the home supporters.
The dramatic winner secured another important three points for Bechem United, extending their remarkable 100 percent home record to five consecutive league victories this season and reinforcing the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park’s reputation as one of the toughest venues in the Ghana Premier League.
For Samartex, the defeat represents a significant setback in their quest to keep pace with the league leaders. Despite producing a spirited second-half performance, the Timber Giants were left empty-handed after conceding at the death.
Bechem’s latest victory also strengthens their ambitions of climbing the league table, with the Hunters continuing to build their campaign on an outstanding home record and resilient performances in front of their supporters.
