Hearts of Oak were defeated at Karela United on Saturday and have now fallen below rivals Asante Kotoko by ten points after 13 matches this season.
Fomer WAFA and Kotoko midfielder Umar Bashiru scored the winner and the only goal of the match deep into stoppage time to condemn the champions to a painful defeat.
Meanwhile Kotoko won at home by 1-0 against Medeama thanks to a Georges Mfegue 79th minute winner.

Asante Kotoko lead the standings after 13 games with 30 points whereas Hearts of Oak are 8th on 20 points after the same number of games contested.
