Heart of Lions maintained their unbeaten start to the Ghana Premier League after holding Asante Kotoko to a goalless draw at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
The Porcupine Warriors controlled much of the game and created several scoring chances but were unable to break through the well-organized Lions defense. Despite their dominance, Kotoko had to settle for just a point at home.
Kotoko started the game with confidence following their recent CAF Confederation Cup victory over Kwara United. Early efforts from Donzo Morifing and Albert Amoah came close, with Amoah’s powerful volley hitting the crossbar.
Heart of Lions also created moments of danger, as Freeman’s fierce strike was brilliantly stopped by Kotoko’s goalkeeper Aziz Dari. The first half ended with both sides unable to find the net.
In the second half, Kotoko pushed harder for a goal. Albert Amoah and Emmanuel Antwi both came close, while substitute Seth Kwadwo tested the Lions’ goalkeeper with a long-range shot. In stoppage time, Hubert Gyau’s attempt was also denied, leaving Kotoko frustrated.
Heart of Lions stood firm until the final whistle, earning a valuable away point and extending their unbeaten run to four games—three wins and one draw—keeping them at the top of the league table.
Kotoko will now aim to bounce back when they host defending champions Bibiani Goldstars in their next league fixture.
