League leaders Medeama SC return to action determined to bounce back after their impressive 17-match unbeaten run (10 wins, 7 draws) came to an end with a narrow 2-1 loss to Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.
Despite taking the lead in that match, Ibrahim Tanko’s side were overturned, marking only their second league defeat of the season after 21 games. Still, Medeama remain firmly in control at the top of the table with 12 wins and seven draws, maintaining a seven-point cushion over their closest challengers.
Back at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, the Mauve and Yellow will be confident of an immediate response. Their home form has been outstanding, with eight wins and three draws from 11 matches, making Tarkwa one of the toughest venues for visiting teams this season.
History also favors the league leaders heading into this clash. Medeama have won four of their last five home league games against Aduana FC, keeping clean sheets in the last three meetings, including consecutive 2-0 victories.
However, they face a confident and organized Aduana side. The Fire Club moved into second place with 36 points after a disciplined goalless draw against FC Samartex 1996 at Nana Agyemang Badu I Park. They head into this encounter on a two-match unbeaten run, recording clean sheets in both games (one win, one draw).
Under coach Cioba Aristica, Aduana have become one of the league’s most dangerous teams on the road. With four away wins — joint second-best in the league — along with two draws and four defeats, they have shown resilience away from home. A fifth away victory could significantly tighten the title race and send a strong message to the leaders.
Elsewhere, the battle for survival continues to intensify. Eleven Wonders remain rooted to the bottom after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Young Apostles in Wenchi, their third straight loss and eighth defeat in their last ten matches. The newly promoted side have collected just nine points from 21 games.
Their struggles are reflected in the numbers — the fewest goals scored in the league (14), the most conceded (35), and only two wins all season. Both victories, however, came at home, offering a slim glimmer of hope as they attempt to end a three-game losing streak.
Standing in their way is Vision FC, who sit just one point above the relegation zone but have shown greater consistency in recent weeks. They have lost only once in their last six matches, recording two wins and three draws.
In their most recent outing, Vision demonstrated strong character by fighting back to secure a 2-2 draw against Dreams FC.
The Tema-based side will travel to Agona Swedru with confidence, having gone unbeaten in their last three away league matches (one win, two draws). That record contrasts sharply with Eleven Wonders’ poor home form, having lost four of their last five at their own ground.
Vision FC, ranked among the league’s top ten away performers, will be eager to complete a league double over their struggling hosts, while Eleven Wonders fight desperately to keep their survival hopes alive.
