Hearts of Oak is set to invest $50,000 in signing King Faisal’s talented center-back, David Oppong Afrane, as confirmed by SportsWorldGhana.
At the young age of 20, Oppong Afrane has displayed outstanding performances that have garnered attention from various clubs. Hearts of Oak sees his addition to their squad as a significant boost to their chances in the domestic league and hopes it will secure them a spot in Africa.
King Faisal are demanding for $50,000 as transfer fee before releasing the defender. However, the Phobians are ready to break the bank to sign Afrane.
The move is also intended to fill the gap left by Konadu Yiadom, who recently joined Ukraine’s Kryvbas Football Club.
As one of the standout players in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, the young center-back has attracted interest from multiple clubs, with Hearts of Oak currently leading the race for his signature. The club has already made an official inquiry to King Faisal regarding the player’s availability.
In the previous season, Oppong Afrane made 22 appearances for King Faisal, scoring two goals and earning two MVP awards. His impressive performances also earned him a spot in the Black Meteors squad for the recently concluded U23 AFCON tournament.
Despite his defensive efforts, King Faisal couldn’t avoid relegation and will now compete in the Access Bank Division One League next season. The potential move to Hearts of Oak presents an exciting opportunity for Oppong Afrane to continue his development at a higher level.
