  1. Karela sinks Heart of Lions

The battle to beat relegation is getting difficult for Bashir Hayford and his Heart of Lions while it is getting less difficult for Abubakari Damba and his Karela United. At the Naa Sheriga Sports Centre in Nareligu on Sunday, Karela scored late to open a huge 8-point gap between themselves and Heart of Lions. Bashir Hayford’s side sits in 17th position on the league log and is 4 points behind the last relegation-placed team, Bofoakwa. The battle is a difficult one for Heart of Lions after the 1-0 defeat against Karela on Sunday but Karela looks like they will beat the drop.

  1. Asante Kotoko is in deep trouble

It is 5 games now and Kotoko is winless. 4 defeats and a draw are not good enough for Prosper Ogum and his lads. The Porcupine Warriors were extremely lucky to escape Bechem with a point as they looked like a disorganised side. Nothing seems to be working now for Asante Kotoko and Prosper needs to do something before it is too late.

  1. Bibiani Gold Stars win first away game in 21 matches

The only away win for Bibiani Gold Stars ahead of the trip to Accra was a victory in Week 14 of the 2022-23 GPL season against Tamale City. They have struggled in away games until Sunday night’s 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak. It was a huge win for the Bibiani-based club as it has eased the relegation fears. Frimpong Manso has done pretty well since taking over and the win in Accra will go down as one of the best results since taking over from Micheal Osei.

  1. Samartex and Nations FC are in a huge battle for the title

Nations FC narrowly pipped Accra Great Olympics on Friday through Razak Simpson’s sumptuous free-kick as it sent the Abrankese side to the top of the table. On Sunday, the defending champions, Medeama SC fell in Samraboi and it helped them reclaim the top spot. Now, it seems their momentum is extraordinary and they will battle for the title, albeit Aduana Stars are lurking.

  1. RTU is heading towards the abyss

Sam Adams’ hat trick for Aduana Stars against RTU in the 3-1 win added more troubles to RTU’s already 99 problems. The Tamale-based club are destined to be relegated as their form says it all. RTU’s home form isn’t bad but they lack the motivation to deliver. It is getting worse for RTU as they have won 2 and lost 9 games in their last 13.
