On Friday, May 26, Premier League leaders Medeama SC will go head-to-head against King Faisal in their Matchday 32 fixture at Akoon Park in Tarkwa.
Following their impressive 5-1 victory over Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday, the mauves and yellows climbed to the top of the table and will be determined to maintain their position.
Throughout the season, Medeama SC has experienced various phases, starting with David Duncan, then Umar Rabi, and currently under the guidance of Evans Augustine Adotey.
Under Adotey’s leadership, the team has shown exceptional form, lifting them from 7th place to the summit of the league table since March 1, 2023, when they drew 1-1 with Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
In their last 12 league matches, Medeama SC has lost three, drawn one, and won eight, with their impressive run coinciding with the arrival of Evans Adotey. Defender Vincent Atinga has been one of their standout performers this season, scoring 11 goals.
Captain Kwasi Donsu, Jonathan Sowah, Derrick Fordjuor, and former Karela United goalkeeper Felix Kyei have also made significant contributions.
King Faisal, on the other hand, suffered a 2-0 defeat to FC Samartex in their week 31 match at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex. The loss has pushed them down to 17th place in the table, with three matches remaining in the season.
Ignatius Osei-Fosu’s side will need to secure at least two wins from their remaining fixtures to have any chance of avoiding relegation, as they currently sit three points below the relegation zone with 36 points.
Medeama SC has won three and lost two of their last five matches, occupying the top spot in the table with 53 points. In contrast, King Faisal has been winless in their last five matches, suffering four defeats and securing one draw.
Abdul Latif, Baba Yahaya, Suraj Ibrahim, Joseph Edu Dwomoh, and Elia Elia are among the players available for selection for King Faisal, while Medeama SC will be relying on Vincent Atinga Addae, Nurudeen Abdulai, Nana Kofi Babil, Jonathan Sowah, Darlington Gyan Fosu, and Kwadwo Amoako.
In their first-round encounter, Medeama SC emerged victorious with a 3-2 scoreline at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The match will be broadcast live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247 on Friday.
