Oloboi Commodore, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Accra Great Olympics, has expressed their ambitious goal of capturing the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title.
The Wonder Club currently leads the Premier League standings after completing five games in the ongoing season, notably achieving a resounding 3-0 victory over Accra Lions. Impressively, Olympics remains the only club that hasn’t suffered a defeat this season.
Despite their lengthy trophy drought that spans over four decades, Oloboi believes that their wait will come to an end this year. He is confident that they have been making the necessary preparations to become a formidable force capable of competing for the league title this season.
“We are making sure that what happened to us last season will not befall us again. Our plans are that we are looking at the technical and the strength of the team,” he told Graphic Sports.
As part of their preparations, Oloboi mentioned that they’ve already appointed a new coach and signed several players. However, he acknowledged that their recruitment efforts are ongoing, and they intend to acquire more players when the next transfer window opens.
“We have already signed a new coach and some players but we are still going to sign some players again. We have already identified some of the players we are aiming at signing and they are all in the Premier League,” he said.
It’s worth noting that Olympics has previously won the Premier League twice, in 1970 and 1974.
