The Swedish top division side have announced their capture of the teenage sensation from the Right to Dream Academy, having monitored the huge prospect closing for months.
The 18-year-old promising wonderkid from Cote d’ivoire caught the attention of the Allsvenskan outfit during their scouting mission in Ghana for the past months.
‘Last spring, Daniel Koffi came to Halmstad. The reason was that he had impressed sports director Jesper Westerberg and coach Johan Lindholm during their trip to Ghana a few months earlier. At the time, Daniel Koffi was only 17 years old and a contract had to wait. Until now,” a statement over his capturing reads on the club’s website.
”Daniel Koffi moved from the Ivory Coast to Ghana and the Right to Dream academy as a youngster, where he lived in the same boarding school as Yannick Agnero. Through the academy’s close collaboration with FC Nordsjælland, there have been several trips to Denmark to train with the big Danish club.”
Sporting director Jesper Westerberg speaking on Koffi’s signing said. ”The way was actually open for FC Nordsjælland, but we managed to tie him to us on a four-year contract. He had his first A-training today and he is competing for a starting place, but there will certainly be some appearances in the U19 and U21 during the season.
”Matches are important and the more often young talents play matches, the faster the development goes. In the U21 series there are quite a few matches so that is why we have extended a hand to Laholms FK so that our talents can play senior football to develop.”
