Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has praised Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for his exceptional work with young players during his time at Borussia Dortmund.
Bellingham, who joined Dortmund at 17, spent two seasons alongside Addo, who was the club’s transition coach. In an interview with The Guardian, the England international credited Dortmund’s unique approach to integrating young players into the first team.
“Dortmund integrates young players into the first-team squad next level. There isn’t a club in Europe that does it quite like them. The way they are pushed and can also be reeled back in. They review your performances,” Bellingham said.
He praised Addo, who played for Ghana and is known for his friendly and supportive nature, for providing the right guidance for every player.
“There is a person who was there for every player, especially Otto [Addo], the former Dortmund and Ghana striker, who has worked with the young players. He is great,” Bellingham added.
Bellingham has previously expressed his admiration for Addo on social media, calling him a “legend”. The Ghanaian coach played a vital role in the development of many young players during his time at Dortmund, building strong bonds with each player.
As Bellingham’s praise highlights, Dortmund’s approach to youth development is truly unique, and Otto Addo’s involvement was a significant factor in this process.
His ability to connect with young players and provide them with the right support has made him a beloved figure at the club.
