Asante Kotoko’s forward, Steven Dese Mukwala, expresses confidence in Richmond Lamptey’s ability to shine in the Black Stars following Lamptey’s inclusion in the final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Lamptey, a 26-year-old central midfielder, secured his place in the 27-man squad, a decision made public by Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton.
Mukwala, recognizing the privilege and honor of a national team call-up, believes Lamptey’s quality and experience will contribute significantly to the team.
“As players, any national team call up is a privilege. In fact, it’s a privilege and a big honour to represent your country. I believe with his quality and experience; he will help the team; he will really do good. The entire fabulous family are just going to pray for him. We just need the best for him. I’m sure he will perform,” Dese Mukwala stated.
With preparations underway in Kumasi, Ghana, and a friendly against Namibia scheduled for January 8, 2024, the Black Stars, including Lamptey, are gearing up for the AFCON tournament in Group B, facing Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.
