Bashir Hayford, the head coach of Heart of Lions, expressed his elation after his team clinched a hard-fought victory against Asante Kotoko.
The encounter took place at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon, where the bottom-ranked team faced off against the Porcupine Warriors.
Despite a goalless first half, Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah’s goal in the second half secured a crucial three points for the home team.
In a post-match interview, Hayford praised his team for their resilience in securing the victory. Reflecting on past encounters, he recalled a memorable victory against Asante Kotoko, saying, “I previously defeated Asante Kotoko with Heart of Lions and they refused to continue playing, stating ‘yen b) biom’ (we will not play again).”
“Today, I am coaching the same Heart of Lions team on the day of our stadium opening, and we’ve emerged victorious against Asante Kotoko,” he added with satisfaction.
With this win, Heart of Lions climbed to the 15th spot on the Premier League table with 18 points. Their next challenge awaits as they face Accra Great Olympics at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.
