The Miners managed to break through the resilient Lions defense, with Alex Aso scoring the opening goal in the 45th minute. Gold Stars extended their lead with a spectacular free-kick from Appiah MaCarthy in the 54th minute.
Shortly after, Mustapha Yakubu reduced the deficit for the visitors, and the Lions’ captain, Ebenezer Abban, netted in the 72nd minute to equalize. This result marked their fifth draw of the season.
