Heart of Lions coach, Bashir Hayford, is urging his strikers to step up their game in scoring after their disappointing performance against Great Olympics.
The Kpando-based team suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Dade boys in the week 19 clash of the Ghana Premier League at the WAFA Park.
Razak Yussif, Great Olympics’ striker, was the star of the match, netting both goals to secure victory for his team last Saturday.
The home team took the lead just six minutes into the game, courtesy of a goal from Razak Yussif, heading into halftime with the advantage.
Great Olympics sealed their win in the 63rd minute when Razak Yussif found the back of the net for the second time.
After the match, Coach Hayford emphasized the need for his attackers to elevate their performance to support the team in future games.
“Our strikers need to step up. When it comes to the qualities of a striker, I have concerns, but they are currently our strikers, and I am working on improving their skills. Hopefully, by the tenth game under my leadership, I will start to see some improvements. Training is all about getting better, so I want to see how they can enhance their goal-scoring abilities,” he stated.
Heart of Lions finds themselves in the relegation zone after 19 matches in the Ghana Premier League campaign.
They are currently in 17th place on the league table with 18 points and will need to perform exceptionally well to avoid relegation by the end of the season.
