Newly signed Hearts of Oak defender Michael Awuah Mensah is confident that his team can turn their fortunes around and win the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title.
The Phobians narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 14th on the table after a disappointing campaign.
Speaking to the media, Awuah Mensah expressed his desire to make amends for their poor performance and bring joy to the Hearts of Oak faithful. “We were hurt after falling short to Kotoko in the Democracy Cup. We wanted to lift the trophy to make our fans happy after a disappointing season,” he said.
The defender, who recently joined the Accra-based club from Nations FC, urged fans not to lose hope in the team and to exercise patience. “I will urge the fans not to lose hope in the team. The fans should exercise patience. I believe the leadership of the club are working around the clock to make things better,” he added.
Awuah Mensah is confident that his new team has what it takes to win the league title. “No one should be surprised if Hearts of Oak wins the league. We can win the league. Hearts of Oak is a big club so it’s no news if we win the league,” he said.
The talented defender penned a three-year deal with Hearts of Oak and is expected to play a huge role for the team next season. His arrival is seen as a boost for the team as they look to rebuild and challenge for the top honors in Ghanaian football.
