Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara has praised the commitment of his current squad, asserting that they are more dedicated than last season’s team.
Ahead of the highly anticipated Super Clash against Asante Kotoko this weekend, Ouattara expressed confidence in his players, despite a slow start to the Ghana Premier League season. Although the Phobians struggled last season, narrowly avoiding relegation with a final-day victory over Bechem United, they are now beginning to show signs of improvement.
Speaking to 3Sports ahead of Sunday’s match, Ouattara emphasized the improved attitude and performances of his team. “Every time, we are motivated, and this season, we’ve played the hard matches before Kotoko. The venues which are difficult to get points, we made it,” he said.
The coach continued, “For the players, and me particularly, we need to play well first of all and possibly get the three points, or bring one point. And still, now, we are ahead of them.”
Hearts of Oak are in strong form heading into the clash, having won three of their last four games and drawn one. They are currently in 6th place on the league table with 19 points, just one point ahead of Kotoko, who sit in 7th place.
The Super Clash is scheduled for Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Baba Yara Stadium.
