Ghanaian defender Abdul Fatawu Hamidu scored his first goal for Ghazl El Mahalla FC in their 3-1 win over ZED FC in the Egyptian League Cup on Thursday afternoon.
Hamidu, who previously played for Medeama SC, netted the second goal of the match as El Mahalla secured a comfortable victory at the El Gazel Stadium.
The match began with experienced forward Mohamed Hamdi opening the scoring in the 11th minute, thanks to a pass from Abdel Yehia.
Hamidu then doubled the home side’s lead in the 25th minute, finishing off a brilliant assist from Tunisian forward Mohamed Ben Hammouda.
Yehia added a third goal just before the half-time break to give El Mahalla a commanding 3-0 lead.
ZED FC responded in the 71st minute, with Egyptian forward Shady Hussein converting a penalty to pull one back for his side.
Hamidu was substituted in the 86th minute, making way for Egyptian attacker Ibrahim Hassan.
Hamidu, who joined Ghazl El Mahalla this summer, has now made three appearances in the Egyptian Premier League and one in the League Cup.
