Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has admitted that he is learning from his past mistakes after guiding his team to their first win of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians secured a 2-0 victory against Bechem United on Sunday, easing the pressure on the Ivorian coach.
Ransford Mensah, a new signing, and striker Hamza Issa netted the goals in a convincing performance at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, helping the team bounce back from two consecutive losses at the start of the season.
Ouattara faced mounting pressure from fans ahead of the game, with some calling for his dismissal. However, following the much-needed win, he acknowledged that he is adapting and learning from previous missteps.
“I made changes against Lions, and it did not work,” Ouattara said in his post-match interview. “Today, I kept faith in the team, and they responded well. It shows that we are human, but also that I am learning from these experiences and not repeating mistakes.”
Hearts of Oak will next face Nations FC in a Matchday Four clash at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
