Managing Director of Hearts of Oak, MD Delali Anku-Adiamah, has called on the Black Stars technical team to keep a close watch on defender Kelvin Osei Asibey following his impressive performances this season.

The 23-year-old has been a standout for the Phobians, making 12 appearances in 13 matches so far in the current Ghana Premier League campaign. Despite Hearts suffering a narrow defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium, Asibey’s overall contributions did not go unnoticed.

In a tense match on Sunday, Asibey’s error late in the game led to a costly goal, securing a 1-0 win for Kotoko. However, speaking after the game, Anku-Adiamah defended the defender and recommended him for a potential Black Stars call-up.

“Black Stars should look at Asibey because he is an amazing player. Mistakes can happen, so let’s not judge a player by just one mistake,” Anku-Adiamah stated.

The MD also emphasized that Asibey’s strong performance throughout the match should not be overshadowed by the late mistake.

“You can’t just look at the mistake. It came way up the field before it got to the defense. Let’s look at the whole situation, what happened from the middle to the back. Kelvin was one of the best players, if not the man of the match. Some of the tackles and clearances he made were amazing,” Anku-Adiamah added.

Despite the defeat, Asibey’s impressive overall display has left Anku-Adiamah hopeful that his talent will be recognized at the national level.
