Hearts of Oak has named Sebastian Barnes, the former captain of Ghana’s U17 team, as the head of scouting.
Barnes possesses a UEFA B coaching certificate, adding to his expertise in the field.
In a statement released by the club, the At 46 years old will be the new Head of Scouting and will be collaborating with Dutch coach Rene Hiddink, who has been appointed as the club’s Technical Director, as Hearts of Oak aims to restructure their team ahead of the upcoming season.
Before taking on this role, Barnes managed the U15 side of SC Leverkusen and also served as their sports director.
His journey to Germany began after leading the Black Starlets to victory in the FIFA U17 World Cup held in Italy.
Notably, Barnes also had a successful playing career, representing Hearts of Oak from 1991 to 1995 before joining German side Bayer Leverkusen for the 1995/96 season and Mainz O5.
Meanwhile, the club is yet to announce the appointment of a new Head Coach for the 2023/24 Season.
