Hearts of Oak’s coach, Martin Koopman, emphasized the importance of instilling a fighting spirit in his players to secure more points.
He made these remarks following the Phobians’ 3-1 victory over Medeama SC during matchday eight at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
The Rainbow Club achieved their most significant win of the 2023-2024 season, with two goals from Hamzah Issah and an own goal, ending a streak of three consecutive draws.
While acknowledging the quality of his team, Koopman stressed the need for his young squad to display greater determination during matches in order to become a top-tier team.
He stated, “All my players can play football; what we need now is fighting spirit in the game. With this team, having that fighting spirit can help us earn a lot of points, so hopefully, we can continue in this direction.”
Hearts of Oak has moved up to 13th place on the league table with 9 points and is set to be hosted by Karela United in the matchday nine fixture at the Aliu Mahama Stadium this weekend.
