Former Legon Cities FC midfielder Michel Otou is edging closer to a move to Ethiopian outfit Hawassa City FC, according to a report by Mohammed Shaban.
Reportedly, the 26-year-old is currently engaged in discussions regarding personal terms with Hawassa City FC, with negotiations reaching an advanced stage.
Otou’s potential transfer to Hawassa City could materialize as a free transfer following his departure from Legon Cities FC.
Pending any unforeseen developments, Michel Otou is expected to make the move from Ghana to Ethiopia next week to finalize the deal.
Beginning his career with Ghana Division One League side Unistar Academy, Otou later transitioned to International Allies in 2017.
While at Inter Allies, Michel Otou embarked on a short-term loan to Portimonense SC and also undertook a three-week trial at Scottish Premiership side Hearts of Midlothian. However, he was unable to secure a deal with the Scottish club.
During the 2017 Ghana Division One League season, Otou displayed his prowess by netting three goals and contributing five assists in 13 league matches before his stint in Scotland for the trials.
Subsequently, the accomplished midfielder departed Inter Allies for Great Olympics ahead of the 2020–21 Ghana Premier League season, alongside his former Inter Allies teammate Saed Salifu.
His exceptional performances caught the attention of Legon Cities FC, who brought him on board to strengthen their squad.
Michel Otou’s talent earned him a place in the Ghana U-20 team from 2015 to 2017. Notably, he was part of the squad that clinched third place at the 2015 African U-20 Championship, making appearances in two matches during the tournament.
