Football legend Asamoah Gyan expressed his delight at the stellar performance of Black Meteors’ striker Emmanuel Yeboah, who was awarded the Man of the Match title in Ghana’s thrilling victory over Congo at the ongoing 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Emmanuel Yeboah showcased his remarkable talent, scoring two goals within 45 minutes, leading the Ghana U23 national team to a 3-2 triumph over their Congolese counterparts at Rabat’s Prince Moulay Stadium.
Asamoah Gyan, who played a crucial role in recognizing Yeboah’s potential, couldn’t contain his excitement and took to Twitter to praise the young striker’s performance. He tweeted, “His name is 99 ideas.” In another tweet, Gyan confidently added, “I told you so.”
Although Yeboah didn’t start the match, he entered the game at halftime, substituting captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh. Merely four minutes into his appearance, the CFR Cluj forward provided an assist to teenager Ernest Nuamah, enabling Ghana to take the lead.
In the 74th minute, Emmanuel Yeboah seized a splendid opportunity, demonstrating his agility as he skillfully controlled a lobbed pass with his head before calmly placing the ball into the back of the net, further extending Ghana’s advantage to 2-0.
Yeboah continued to impress, securing his brace in the 82nd minute from the penalty spot. However, Congo staged a remarkable comeback, scoring twice during stoppage time, injecting suspense into the match’s conclusion.
Despite the dramatic turn of events, Ghana emerged victorious with a final score of 3-2, and Emmanuel Yeboah was rightfully recognized as the Man of the Match for his exceptional contributions.
