Asante Kotoko SC returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 victory over already relegated Eleven Wonders FC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon, with the club’s emerging talents taking centre stage.
The match also marked a historic moment as five Young Porcupines—Bismark Ofori, Lawson Kyei, Takyi Addison, Anthony Duah, and Abu Adams—all featured together for the senior team in the same game.
The result handed interim coach Hamza Obeng his first win in charge and ended Kotoko’s four-match winless run in the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Lawson Kyei Manu, who produced a composed curling finish to give the Porcupine Warriors a deserved lead before halftime.
The home side continued to control proceedings in the second half and sealed victory in the 69th minute when youngster Anthony Duah marked his senior debut with a goal after being promoted from the youth setup.
The strike capped a memorable afternoon for the teenager and highlighted the growing influence of Kotoko’s academy graduates in the senior team.
The win provides a much-needed boost for Kotoko after a difficult spell that had seen their title ambitions fade in the second half of the season.
For Eleven Wonders FC, the defeat extended a poor run of form, with the already relegated side now winless in 13 consecutive matches, recording just one draw since their last victory in January.
Kotoko will now turn their attention to their next league fixture against Bechem United FC, while Eleven Wonders prepare to face Berekum Chelsea.
