The qualifiers for the Paris Olympics games Men’s 3rd/4th place play-off ended in a comprehensive victory for Ghana in Pretoria, South Africa.
Ghana consolidated their semi-finals 7-0 defeat against South Africa with a 7-1 mauling of Uganda albeit Ghana’s dream for the Paris Olympics was ended by South Africa yesterday.
Francis Tetteh scored his first ever hattrick for Ghana in the 7-1 massacre of Uganda. He was voted the best player of the game.
In the Men’s finals, South Africa will play Egypt in the finals on Sunday with the winner qualifying for Paris 2024.
In the women’s finals, South Africa will lock horns against Nigeria.
The men’s and women’s teams that win the tournament will seal their berths at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. The team that finishes as the runner-up in the men’s competition will get a second opportunity to qualify for the Olympics, at the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers 2024.
