Hohoe United have parted ways with head coach Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru following a disappointing run of results in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
The decision comes just five months into Bashiru’s tenure, with the newly promoted side currently languishing in the relegation zone after 17 matches, marking a difficult first half of their debut top-flight campaign.
Friday’s uninspiring 0-0 draw against regional rivals Heart of Lions proved to be the final straw for the club’s management, prompting swift action as pressure mounted over the team’s lack of progress.
Despite hopes of a turnaround, Hohoe United have struggled to find consistency, and the stalemate against Lions underlined ongoing concerns about the side’s attacking output and overall direction.
Bashiru was appointed with the clear task of guiding Hohoe United to safety in their maiden Ghana Premier League season. However, results have failed to meet expectations, leaving the club entrenched in the bottom places as the season reaches its midpoint.
Prior to joining Hohoe United, Bashiru served as head coach of Young Apostles and Legon Cities, and also worked as an assistant coach at Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics, bringing significant top-flight experience to the role.
Hohoe United are expected to announce an interim arrangement or permanent replacement in the coming days as they look to revive their survival hopes in the second half of the season.
