Division One side Home Stars FC pulled off a dramatic 1-0 win over Premier League team Legon Cities FC in the Round of 64 of the MTN FA Cup at the UG Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The Ho-based Home Stars made a strong challenge, holding Legon Cities to a goalless draw after 90 minutes of intense play. In the second half, Coach Christian Chibueze made key substitutions, particularly in the attack, which turned out to be a game-changer.
In the 92nd minute, substitute Joseph Tei capitalized on a counter-attack down the right wing and slotted the ball in from the near post, securing the match-winning goal. This last-minute strike sent Home Stars into the Round of 32 of the MTN FA Cup, with a well-deserved victory over the higher-tier side.
