The Black Stars are set to face Liberia in a friendly match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 12, with the kickoff scheduled for 4:00 pm GMT.
Ghana is using this game as part of their preparations for next month’s international friendly matches against Mexico and the United States of America, as well as the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, which commence in November.
However, Head Coach Chris Hughton is facing some injury concerns, especially at the left-back position. Baba Rahman will be sidelined for the game due to an injury sustained during the 2-1 comeback win against the Central African Republic on Thursday. In his absence, Medeama’s Abdul Fatawu Hamidu has been called up to replace him. Additionally, Gideon Mensah is a doubt for the game after missing several training sessions due to an injury he suffered on Thursday. Fortunately, all other players are available for the match.
Here’s how Ghana could potentially line up for the game:
Chris Hughton is expected to make significant changes to the team that secured qualification for the AFCON on Thursday.
In goal, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, who hasn’t featured for the team since the Kirin Cup in Japan, is expected to start.
Kingsley Schindler is likely to play at right-back, while Abdul Fatawu Hamidu will make his debut start at left-back. Stephan Ambrosius is also expected to earn his first start, partnering with Nicholas Mensah in central defense.
In midfield, Edmund Addo and Baba Iddrisu are expected to play in front of the defense. On the flanks, Ernest Nuamah and Ransford Yeboah are likely to occupy the wings, while skipper Andre Ayew and Antoine Semenyo are expected to take the number 10 and 9 positions, respectively.
