“I am convinced” – Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin praises Black Stars’ recent performances

Ghana’s Parliament Speaker, Alban Sumana Bagbin, has expressed his confidence in the Black Stars following their impressive performances in the two June 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The team’s victories over Mali and the Central African Republic have boosted their World Cup qualification prospects and propelled them up the FIFA rankings.

The Black Stars, led by coach Otto Addo, staged a comeback to defeat Mali 2-1 in Bamako earlier this month, followed by a thrilling 4-3 win over the Central African Republic at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

These results have given Ghana a second-place spot in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers with nine points, just behind Comoros on goal difference.

Speaking during the launch of the Democracy Cup, Bagbin acknowledged that it takes time for teams to gel together, but he is convinced that the Black Stars are on the right track.

“I’m very, very convinced. It takes time to gel. And so when you get them together like this, there’s some difficulty in getting synchronization and telepathy,” he said.

The Black Stars’ recent performances have rekindled hopes of Ghana qualifying for the World Cup, and with Bagbin’s backing, they will be looking to maintain their momentum in their upcoming matches.
