Dundee United midfielder Emmanuel Agyei has expressed his readiness to represent the Black Stars, stating that he is prepared to seize any opportunity to play for Ghana’s senior national team.
The 21-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership side from Israeli club Ashdod, where he made 27 appearances across two seasons. Since arriving in Scotland, Agyei has settled quickly and become an important part of the team.
So far, the former Dreams FC player has featured in eight league matches, starting seven of them and accumulating 615 minutes on the pitch. His defensive contributions have been notable, recording 15 interceptions and 24 clearances in a short space of time.
Despite acknowledging the pressure that comes with representing Ghana, Agyei believes he is ready to step up if handed the chance.
“It’s not easy to wear the Black Stars jersey, so I’m waiting for that big opportunity,” he told Asempa FM.
“I am ready for a Black Stars call-up, and this is the time.”
With Ghana building toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the young midfielder hopes his performances in the Scottish top flight will attract the attention of the national team technical handlers.
“I urge Coach Otto Addo and the Ghanaian coaching team to keep an eye on my performances in the Scottish Premier League, and if I’m doing well, to give me a chance with the Black Stars,” he added.
Dundee United are currently eighth on the league table and will be aiming to climb higher when they face Falkirk away on Saturday, February 14, with Agyei hoping another strong performance could strengthen his case for a national team call-up.
