Kevin-Prince Boateng has opened up about the regrets he harbors regarding mistakes that hindered his time at Tottenham Hotspur more than a decade ago.
In a recent interview, the Ghanaian international admitted to not taking his career seriously enough during his early days at Spurs. Boateng candidly revealed that he indulged in an extravagant lifestyle, squandering time and money on material possessions, including purchasing three cars in a single day.
“I bought three cars in one day when I was at Tottenham: a Lamborghini, a Hummer, and a Cadillac,” Boateng disclosed.
Reflecting on his misguided pursuit of happiness through material wealth, Boateng offered sage advice to young players, emphasizing that true happiness cannot be bought.
“To the youngsters, I tell them: You cannot buy happiness! I was looking for happiness in material things: a car makes you happy for a week. I bought three to be happy for three weeks,” Boateng remarked.
Boateng’s career spanned various clubs, including Dortmund, Portsmouth, AC Milan, Schalke 04, Las Palmas, Frankfurt, Sassuolo, Barcelona, and Fiorentina, following his departure from his boyhood club Hertha BSC in 2007 until his retirement in August 2023.
