Former Real Sportive and Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Esme Mends, has assumed the role of Club Licensing Manager and administrative assistant to the National Teams Department.
With a career spanning 12 years, Mends brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having played for notable clubs such as Real Sportive and Accra Hearts of Oak.
Following his retirement from professional football, Mends has transitioned into a new role within the football administration sphere. He takes over from Julius Ben Emunah, who has been reassigned to lead the Competitions Department.
During his playing days, Mends showcased his talent and leadership on the field, contributing to Real Sportive’s success and clinching the Ghana Premier League title with Accra Hearts of Oak in 2009.
Beyond his achievements on the pitch, Mends has been actively pursuing further education, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Sports Coaching at the University of Education in Winneba.
His appointment signifies a strategic move by the football association to integrate experienced former players into administrative roles, leveraging their expertise and insights to enhance football governance and development.
