Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya has acknowledged that he didn’t meet expectations in his debut season with the club, scoring only two goals and providing five assists in 25 Premier League matches.
The talented youngster joined the Porcupine Warriors from King Faisal last year to bolster the team’s midfield, but he admits that he didn’t live up to the hype.
“To me, I didn’t live up to the expectations of supporters because personally, I know what I can do. For every first season, there are difficulties. I believe the kind of performance I exhibited at King Faisal that made Kotoko sign me wasn’t what I gave here in my first season but I hope from the second season onwards I will live up to the expectations. I will work hard for this,” Baba Yahaya said.
Despite a disappointing first season, Baba Yahaya is committed to working hard to improve his game and make a bigger impact for Asante Kotoko next season.
The midfielder and his teammates will resume training on June 28th to prepare for the upcoming Democracy Cup match against Hearts of Oak on July 5th at the Accra Sports Stadium.
