Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium came from behind to defeat CR Belouizdad of Algeria 2-1. A penalty kick was converted by Abdelraouf Benguit in the 38th minute which gave the Algerians the lead.
Mamudu Kamaradini’s free-kick deflected Daniel Lomotey and made the score 1-1. Heroe of the day, Mamadu Kamaradini’s 94th-minute header won the 3 points for Medeama.
The Algerian contingents throughout the game complained about the Gambian referee’s decisions as they were not happy at all with most of them.
In a post-match conference, the 65-year-old Brazillian coach when quizzed about the referee’s performance, he said, “I don’t comment about referees, in Africa everybody knows them”.
“I have to prepare my team for the game, I don’t talk about referees”, added Paqueta.
CR Belouizdad will travel to Cairo to play against Al Ahly while Medeama hosts Young Africans.
