Despite thriving in the position of a striker, Ghana international Mohammed Kudus says he does not want to play there.
Kudus has been deployed as the false 9 at Ajax this season after failing to reclaim his failing attacking midfield role.
The 22-year-old struggled for game time at the start of the season but was brought into the team after his good run of form in front of goal.
Despite his excellence as a striker, the Ghaianian says he does not want to play in that role.
“[Playing as a False 9] is not my position but of course, I do it for the team. I try to blend in with my style and what the coach wants,” he said on Star Connect.
“I don’t want to play upfront because I’m not a static striker who stands but I try to add my creativity and try to help the team the best possible way. I was putting the balls in the net.”
Though Kudus plays as the striker with the Dutch side, his time in the Black Stars sees him return to the midfield.
