Head coach of Charlton Athletic Ben Garner says he is looking forward to goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott starting for the Black Stars when they take to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Since making his debut for the Black Stars, Wollacott has been the preferred choice for Ghana in competitive games including keeping the post at the Africa Cup of Nations as well as the World Cup playoff game against Nigeria.
Garner, who brought Wollacott along with him from Swindon Town believes though the goalkeeper is expected to be in the final squad he also hopes he will be Otto Addo’s first-choice at the Mundial.
“He [Wollacott] has been their number one for the best part of the last year,” Garner said through London News Online.
“I’d expect him to not only be in the squad but hopefully to be starting in the games for them.”
Wollacott was instrumental for the club in their EFL Cup game against Stevenage as he a penalty to see his side progress to the next stage of the competition.
