Mohammed Kudus claims to have discussed a potential summer transfer to the Premier League side Everton with Toffees manager Frank Lampard.
Kudus, who performed admirably with the Dutch team throughout the preseason, did not get a start in any of Ajax’s first four matches of the year, playing just 29 minutes in that span.
The 22-year-old thought about quitting Ajax at the beginning of the 2022–23 season because of his insufficient playing time under the new manager Alfred Schreuder.
According to him, he had a discussion with Lampard but any move to the Premier League was blocked by Ajax.
“I spoke to Lampard [regarding a move to Everton],” he said on Star Connect.
“I had a chat with him to know the project they have for me, what he thinks about me and how he sees me as a player because definitely that would be the green light for me to decide whether I want to move. Without the coach there is nothing.”
