Former Hearts of Oak striker Kofi Kordzi has made a bold statement, claiming that his former club will never be relegated from the Ghana Premier League.
Despite the team’s current struggles, Kordzi is optimistic that the Phobians will avoid the drop and maintain their top-flight status.
Speaking on Joy FM, Kordzi referred to his club’s history, saying that he has never seen or heard of Hearts of Oak being relegated.
“Right now I’m not in the team but what I’ll say is I’m not sure Hearts will go to relegation. That one I’m not sure. No, I haven’t seen that Hearts of Oak is going on relegation. I haven’t seen it or I haven’t heard of it,” he said.
Kordzi, who had two spells with Hearts of Oak, is confident that the team will turn their fortunes around and avoid relegation.
“But this is the first time me experiencing this so what I’ll say is I can’t say much about this but the relegation won’t happen. It won’t happen,” he added.
The 29-year-old striker’s words of optimism will likely come as a relief to Hearts of Oak fans, who are worried about their team’s current position on the league table.
With only a few games left to play, the Phobians will need to pick up a win to avoid the drop.
