Owner and bankroller of Samartex, Richard Duah Nsenkyire, confidently predicted his team’s victory in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign.
Samartex made history over the weekend by defeating Bibiani Goldstars to clinch the league title with two games to spare.
In an interview, Mr. Duah asserted that his team effectively secured the league title in the first half of the campaign.
“Our communication strategy, farewell strategy, and motivation strategy—getting much closer to the players—played a huge role in the team’s success,” he explained. “We also have a players’ platform, including the technical team, management, players committee, and myself, where players can have direct access to me when they cannot resolve their personal issues. So, communication was very key to our GPL success.”
He added, “We decided to embark on an eight-week preseason before we played the Nsenkyire Cup. We identified all our mistakes and found solutions before the start of the season. While other clubs were struggling in the league, we were already at our peak. We were ready for the league. In fact, we won the league in the first half of the season. I knew we would win the league because of how prepared we were. Our preparation was different from last season.”
Samartex’s success will be cherished by the people of Sameraboi and serve as an inspiration, especially as the club has also qualified for the CAF Champions League.
As the 13th club to win the Ghana Premier League, Samartex’s triumph marks a historic milestone and a new era for the club and its supporters.
