Ghana head coach Chris Hughton says he invited out of form captain Andre Ayew not based on his abilities for now but for his experience.
According to him, he knows what the clubless Ghana captain , Andre Ayew brings to the senior national team who are preparing for a tough clash this Thursday.
The gaffer has vehemently defended his decision to invite Andre Ayew for the game which could do or undo Ghana in terms of qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast next year January.
“What I have to do is to pick a squad that is made up of young exciting players and much more experienced players,” Hughton told Asaase Radio.
“There will always be, in the general public, a lot of debate about who should be in the squad and who shouldn’t.
“We are knowledgeable about the amount games that he has played and we also know what he means to the squad. He is out captain; I know what he gives the squad.”
