Nicknamed the “GENERAL”, Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor should be studied at the Sports Department of the University of Education Winneba.
The Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Sports is where anything sports is learned at the famous University in the Central Region of Ghana.
We have seen millions of athletes that injuries have prevented them from reaching the upper echelon of world sports. For any athlete in the world to go 25 years without suffering a single injury is mind-blowing.
This is a story from former Hearts of Oak star striker Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor. In an interview with Revolt Radio in Columbus, Ohio USA, the former footballer revealed how he went 25 years with zero injuries as a footballer.
“I never got injured before as a player. I have never been injured, and in the 25 years of my active football, injury was never part of my life,” revealed Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor.
Emmanuel Osei is probably the most versatile footballer to have ever come from Ghana. He enjoyed a trophy-laden career as a striker, winger, attacking midfielder and as a right back. In every position he played, he was impeccable. Kuffuor was a Grade A footballer who had great vision and the ability to score spectacular goals.
” I don’t know what injury looks like as it did not happen to my career. Knee injury, ankle injury, and all that are strangers to me as I never experienced it. I’d rather see or hear of colleagues getting injured, but for me, never. Maybe I was lucky, or God did something wonderful for me,” disclosed the former Black Stars player.
It is quite interesting for a player who won the treble in 2000 with Accra Hearts of Oak to reveal that he doesn’t know how it feels to suffer from knee and ankle injuries. Emmanuel Kuffuor played for Dwarfs before joining Hearts of Oak, then Ashgold and finally his beloved Asante Kotoko in a very long career.
The multiple-title winner has more than 600 appearances as a professional footballer but never suffered a single injury. He won the CAF Champions League, Confederation Cup, Super Cup, Ghana League titles, and FA Cup among many other trophies.
“I scored the last goal when Hearts defeated Kotoko 4-0, but Hearts supporters insulted me, claiming I never wanted to score the goal because I am a Kotoko supporter. That is a lie because I wanted to dribble the players first before scoring, and yes, I got the players down first before scoring that goal, “Kuffuor concluded.
He was a thorn in Asante Kotoko’s flesh as he used to help Phobia smash the Porcupine Warriors.
The talented footballer’s story of zero injuries in his 25-year career needs to be investigated.
