Wilberforce Willie Mfum is 87 years old and hence has seen it all in Ghanaian football as he spent 5 good years with Asante Kotoko between 1962 to 1967 before moving to the USA to continue his football journey.
His beloved Asante Kotoko is in trouble as the Porcupine Warriors have lost 7 of their last 8 games and have won just one in all competitions.
Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM in Kumasi, the former Black Stars forward was pissed with how the team has been performing recently.
“The only advice I have for the players is that before wearing Kotoko’s jersey, they must be dedicated and have the team at heart, always play for the team with full commitment, and not with a lazy attitude,” he said.
Willie Mfum advised Asante Kotoko players to be dedicated and have the team at heart.
“I think the players have never been beaten before, they should have been beaten by the fans after the losing streak so they understand their worth,” added Mfum.
The 87-year-old former Asante Kotoko forward expressed his doubt about the team being manhandled by the fans ever.
“How can you be bought with a large sum of money and then given such a poor performance?” he asked.
Asante Kotoko is lying 10th on the GPL table and resumes action on Sunday in Week 24 with a trip to Bechem to face Bechem United.
