Ghanaian midfielder Richard Boadu has turned down an opportunity to switch allegiance to Libya, insisting that his dream is to represent the Black Stars.
The former Asante Kotoko and Medeama SC player, who currently plies his trade with Al-Tahaddi Sports Club in Libya, revealed that he was approached by the Libyan Football Association to naturalize and play for their national team.
However, Boadu declined the offer, emphasizing his deep connection to Ghana and his desire to wear the national colors.
“When I came here, they tried to get me to naturalize for Libya, but I declined. It’s not about the money; I am a Ghanaian. I also want to represent my country and feel the pride,” Boadu told Fakye TV.
Despite not yet earning a Black Stars call-up, the 26-year-old midfielder remains optimistic that his performances in Libya will attract the attention of Ghana’s national team selectors.
Boadu was a standout performer in the Ghana Premier League before moving to North Africa and continues to make a strong case for a future Black Stars opportunity.
