Black Stars midfielder Mohammed Kudus has revealed he was moments away from joining Premier League side Everton.
The Ghanaian was heavily linked with the Merseyside club after his lack of minutes at the start of the 2022/23 season.
Kudus was one of Ajax’s bright players during pre-season under Alfred Schreuder and was expected to start the season as one of their key players. However, the manager preferred Brian Brobbey ahead of him with Kudus resorting to the bench.
That move, according to Kudus, saw him almost join Everton as he was interested in their project.
“I was really close to joining Everton,” he said on the fourth episode of Star Connect which aired on Joy Prime.
“I thought it was a good project for me and I felt I should try it. It wasn’t like this season was my first, it was my third. So if I’m not getting the progress I’m looking for then why not try something else? That was the focus of everything that happened.”
The close of the transfer window saw the 22-year-old become a regular in the Dutch side, flourishing as their striker.
