Basake Holy Stars head coach, Abdulai Gazale, has expressed his delight after his team’s shocking 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak in their opening game of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.
The newly promoted side stunned the Phobians at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 9, 2024.
In his post-match interview, Gazale highlighted the significance of the victory, emphasizing that it allowed him to maintain his personal unbeaten record against Hearts of Oak, as well as the club’s history of strong performances in season openers.
“Already, we have records as a team, and I also have my own records when it comes to playing against Accra Hearts of Oak,” Gazale explained. “When I was with Kotoko, Hearts of Oak never beat us, and I came into this match with the same mindset.”
He added, “Basake Holy Stars have never lost their first game, whether in Division 1 or Division 2, and we wanted to continue that trend. We played with discipline, and we achieved our goal.”
This victory marks a significant start for Basake Holy Stars as they look to make their mark in the top tier of Ghanaian football.
