Nigeria sits third in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after drawing the first two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe. Super Eagles’ opponents Bafana Bafana are second with three points having beaten Benin and lost to Rwanda who are leading the group with 4 points.

Their positions make their clash in MD3 of the qualifiers in Nigeria a difficult fixture as both teams must win to brighten their chance to progress.

Chippa United’s number one goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali who is also Nigeria’s number one has revealed that Nigeria is superior to South Africa and also believes that they should be too good for them.

“Football is the same everywhere but I don’t feel with the kind of players we have, we can have any challenge in any game, especially in our group. But you cannot predict football,” he told Lagos Talks on 91.3 FM.

“Talking about South African players, I would say I know them. We have good players in our country too so I’m not talking about those guys, they are good in their way of playing,” continued Nwabali.

The former Enyimba goalkeeper has been one of the best goalkeepers in the PSL and hence knows almost the Bafana Bafana squad because the majority of Hugo Broos’ squad plays in the domestic league

“I’m not talking about them because if we can put ourselves together, they cannot match us,” added the Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

The goalkeeper disclosed that if Nigeria can come together and play as a team, Bafana Bafana cannot match them because they have very good players than them.

Nigeria will host South Africa on Friday 7th at 7 pm in Uyo at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
